If you don’t know about it already, there’s a new library cum online book-rental-and-delivery service in town. Founded just in time to mark the UAE’s Year of Reading, Bookish.ae delivers adult and children bestsellers to your doorstep, thus capitalizing on the convenience of a book lover’s delivery experience. The founder of Bookish.ae, the lovely Eden June Michael, originally from Atlanta, Georgia, USA lives in Dubai with her husband and 4-year old daughter. Eden studied in university to be a chemical engineer, but her love for reading together with her once-silent entrepreneurial spirit charted other plans for her in life. Considering the thought and effort she has put into setting up this venture, it would be safe to say that Bookish is her second baby.

Last Saturday, Eden invited some mummy and daddy bloggers and their kids to an exclusive Family Story Time with books, songs, crafts and food. The session was the ‘Animal Guessing Games’ theme from their Very Ready Reading Program story times for ages 2 to 3; usually held on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the month.
The morning commenced with a read-along sing-along trip to the zoo in the form of The Wheels on the Bus by Jeanne Willis. The Cow who Clucked by Denise Fleming, which followed next appealed to every preschooler around. And finally, Noisy Farm by Rod Campbell, being a lift-the-flap book was a hit with younger kids. In between this, there was a lot of singing, dancing, rhyming and crafting to keep the little ones entertained. Keeping in mind that the children would be tired soon after, there was an adequate spread of food: sandwiches, salad, cookies and drinks and a personal goodie-bag for each child to take home at the end of the day. Such a perfect host, Eden.
I have tried to reproduce the fun we had by means of these pictures.
